Dimension Bond Processes

Dimension Bond Patent Pending Technology

The Dimension Bond Corporation is the world leader in converting and providing dimensionally accurate surfaces. These surfaces are formed using a domestic and international patent pending technology that permanently bonds bearing material (or other functional/bonded material) to produce parts that have a derived dimension. We are able to provide accurate and consistent derived dimensions on almost any diameter or rigid, flat or curved surface, by using bearing-grade composite materials that are directly bonded to a surface.

We change dimensions for the better.

Two remarkable direct bonded bearing systems

Compensating Dimension BondSM (CDBSM), each individual part receives a computer calculated thickness of bearing material as individually required, thereby optimizing each part’s dimension and raising the CPK of the entire group of parts.

The CDB process is a completely computer-controlled process that adds or subtracts micron thick layers of the chosen materials being bonded to each individual part. Powerful algorithms in computer software monitor the process continually. CDB creates uniformity of the finished dimension irrespective of the tolerance of the parts. In other words, we take each out of tolerance part and create a group of parts that are all within finished specifications. The CDB process produces finished parts within verified tolerance of +/- 5 microns (+/- 0.0002") from parts that started with tolerances as wide as +/- 25 microns (+/- 0.001"). This means that parts that might otherwise be scrapped are transformed into totally in-specification, lubricated-for-life parts.

Equal Dimension BondSM (EDBSM); all parts receive an equal thickness of bearing material bonded to each part, thereby maintaining the original dimensional CPK.

EDB offers the same composite bearing materials as the CDB process. The EDB process adds the exact same amount of bearing grade composite (or other application specific functional material) to each part. Thus, EDB does not change the tolerance of the parts. Each part retains its individual tolerance. If your production parts are within tolerance, we maintain the CPK or process capability with verified accuracy, part after part.

Proven technology

Demanding customers such as DANA, Airtex, Echlin, Andrews Products, TI, Colt Industries, Holley, Chrysler, Teledyne and many other ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9000 firms have used the two Dimension processes to solve their engineering and purchasing needs.
